The Introduction to Neurodiversity in Yoga & Movement 2.5hr workshop starts yoga teachers off on their neuro-affirming practice journey by getting the basics of the concept of neurodiversity and the expressions of adult neurodivergence through both theory and practice. With rates of adult (and particularly female) diagnosis of ADHD and Autism increasing, this training is well timed to equip yoga teachers and anyone wanting to learn more with not only education into what these neurotypes are, but how they impact people’s lives. This is a light hearted learning session that celebrates brains of all types.
EXPECT:
Understand the adult expressions of these key neurotypes: ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and C-PTSD
Learn how these brain differences can impact a student/participants experience of yoga
Remove barriers to access through sensory, cueing, social and physical modifications
Create experiences for people with of all types of brains to feel included and celebrated
We will learn about the adult expressions of Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia (DCD) and the intersection between trauma and neurodiversity. With this understanding, we then explore how these brain and nervous system differences may affect students’ experiences in yoga spaces from a sensory, cognitive processing and social lens. The yogic principle of ahimsa and an inclusive approach, both from a trauma informed and neuro-affirming perspective, will guide our learning together.
