Guiding with Intention
A$190.00

Join Jodie and Kat to explore the building blocks for how to guide and cue authentically, meaningfully and effectively. This cueing training is designed for yoga teachers who want to refine their skills and feel more confident in guiding their students. During the training, we will establish the foundations of cueing before building upon those skills to help teachers find their own voice and authenticity. We will collaborate, share ideas, and discuss challenges as we explore how to design and deliver meaningful, relatable themes in a class before putting it all into practice in a supported and fun environment.

EXPECT:

● Mastering basic cueing skills: ‘The Power of Effective Cueing’

○ In this segment of the training, we will cover and explain how to master the basics of cueing, some simple ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ and why/ how effective cueing is so crucial when guiding your students. This section will cover verbal cueing for transitions, longer holds, repetitive movements, as well as making your cues understandable for all levels.

○ This will include sharing thoughts, challenges, ideas and some practice time in small groups with support and feedback from Kat and I.

● How to create and deliver authentic and meaningful themes/ intentions for your classes

○ In this segment we will cover how to take a theme idea/ intention/ thought and turn it into a relatable and relevant theme that can be shared with the class with authenticity and meaning.

○ This will include personal reflection time, small group brainstorming and practical application with feedback and guidance from Kat and I.

● Understanding your language skills and preferences

○ In this segment we will guide the teachers in finding their own voice including understanding their language preferences, their natural and authentic vocabulary, their voice and tone. We will discuss how to cue inclusively and clearly for all levels and abilities.

○ This will include self reflection and partner/ small group work where the group can share and give feedback to one another on their voice/ tone/ cues.

● Putting it all into practice

○ Not only will the group be guided through an asana practice at the start of the training, the group will have time to practice teaching short sequences in small groups with specific intentions given to them by Kat and I. Feedback and areas to focus on will be offered to each teacher at the training to continue to reflect upon.

Your Teachers

Meet Jodie

An avid traveller and explorer, I kind of ‘found’ yoga accidentally when I decided to go on a hike in/ hike out retreat in Koh Phangan for some much needed rest in nature. By the time I left I knew that I had found my next journey - and this time a lifelong one. Four months later I had completed my first 200hr teacher training and was teaching in studios across Melbourne. Two years after that, I had deepened my practice with hundreds more hours of training under various teachers, culminating in a wonderful month in Bali for my 300-hour certification. Then, after a brief pause for lockdown and the arrival of a little one, I began leading and facilitating 200-hour teacher trainings in Melbourne and along the Surf Coast.

Today, teach yoga full-time in Melbourne and the Surf Coast, while also continuing my own studies, running yoga retreats, workshops, and teacher trainings to hopefully inspire and support students and teachers on their own yoga journeys.

Meet Kat

Senior Yoga Teacher

Legendary teacher Katherine Thompson will join the teacher training as a special guest for a weekend of Asana Training. Fine-tuning the art of yoga asanas, where every breath, every alignment, and every moment converge to create a symphony of balance and strength. Kat has a way of breaking down postures to their fundamentals, providing you with a framework to deconstruct, then reconstruct any shapes. The Asana journey-refinement enables us to delve deeper into the nuances of each pose, unlocking new layers of mindfulness and connection. Kat will teach us to embrace the subtle adjustments that lead to profound transformation.
